Ella Jenkins' You'll Sing a Song and I'll Sing a Song Inducted into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame
February 13, 2026
The Recording Academy and GRAMMY Museum have just announced that Ella Jenkins’ album You’ll Sing a Song and I’ll Sing a Song will officially be recognized as one of this year’s GRAMMY Hall of Fame inducted recordings on May 8.
Originally released in 1966 by Moses Asch for Folkways Records, You’ll Sing a Song and I’ll Sing a Song is as much a classic of 20th-century folk music as it is a foundational text of early childhood music education. It has nurtured the minds of generations of children, introducing them to basic musical building blocks while fostering a spirit of togetherness and inclusivity.
“This record is designed for listening, as well as for participation,” Ella explains in the liner notes. “It is structured for imitating, as well as for creating.”
Ella’s album is among fourteen influential recordings set to be honored this year, alongside works by Lucinda Williams, 2Pac, Selena, Alice Coltrane, Nick Drake, and others. Learn more from the GRAMMYS
